Summer Breeze DYB- Jakkie's block (edited)

This is ONE of the current round robins I am working on. This is the Do Your Block RR, where I embellish a 6" block. I have three RR on the go. I have 3 RR on the go. No, make that 4, plus other various projects I would LIKE to contribute too. So time management is important here. So, with that being said, I am off the PC and onto the arm chair. That should take care of all of 17 out of 10000 steps! lol
There is alot more to do on this block.
Haere ra.
(edited to add)
I have added in a third shot of Jakkies block. The colours are much truer in this block, especially with the SRE. I guess you can see my obvious problem...the big 'gap' in the top left of the block. Any ideas? It needs to be a 'weighty' embellishment to balance the block.

Summer Breeze DYB- Jakkie's block - complete
Jakkie's block is finished. I posted a final pic in the previous post, so you can see the progress on the block, if you are at all interested! I like purple at the best of times, but I particulary like this block. It is very pretty, and I love that the crocheted doily worked , yeah!
So , here is the finished block ( I do think it is finished too)
and some close ups

...and the 'art' shot. You don't often get to see the dimension in CQ blocks, so here is my effort for your enjoyment.

Just stuff
This is my boy over the weekend when he was sick, and finally succumbed to sleep.
This is a GREAT!! imho pin. I just love it. It actually looks far more elegant than the pic shows. The diamantes are picking up the brown of the background. I am keeping this for my 6th Summer Breeze block, whaen it returns home. This was in a clearnace bin , by the way. It is about 3cm wide by 5 cm long.
And this is the progress on my 6th Tradewinds block. The ribbon I dyed myself. Perfect for this block. I have had a revelation with the DYB's. Because I get one back unembellished, for me to do, I can use all those 'special' things I am saving for that 'perfect' block. Case in point, the pin previously, and the cameo on this block, sent to me in a swap.

catch up
Firstly a big thank you to all of you who have left comments, and emailed me about my articles in CQMagonline. I really appreciate the feedback. I am pleased, and surprised at the response to the "My Style" article. The original draft was about 5 pages long, and I felt I had left alot out, and it was a bit "rushed", but I was also mindful of not taking your attention for too long, as there are many great articles in this issue. I have had wonderful pics of ornaments made from my tutorial sent to me. This is a real buzz, so thanks for taking the time, and please, submit them to the readers showcase for the next issue. I am working on my prezzie ornies for the whanau at the mo.
So, what else have I been doing?? Below is Leslie's Summer Breeze DYB. Sorry the pic is not good. Lots of beading and bits and pieces on this block.
And below are a couple of ATCs I made last week. Last year mums guild had an ATC exchange board at their annual show, so I whipped some up to swap this year, but they didn't do it...I can utilise these in a swap I am hosting, so not a wasted effort, in fact quite the opposite. I don't use my machine for much other than straight lines, and buttonholing the edges of these puppies was INCREDIBLY challenging. I need help ...
I spent the morning sewing up the Xmas ornies, I will spend the afternnon/evening embellishing. A new Amazing Race starts tonight. Fab!!

Summer Breeze DYB - Melissa's block
Here is another RR block complete. This is for Melissa over at Honey Bees Bliss.
I added, well all of it, cos it's a DYB (embellish the whole block), but I added some vintage tatting, and Honey Bee Charm, lots of vines and greenery, beading, and SRE. I feel inadequate adding SRE to Melissa's blocks, as you will know if you visit her, but we each have our own strengths, and it is still nice to see how others do things
...and here is yet another postcard finished... I don't know why but I am procastinating with starting a project that is for ME! Probably because I rarely finish things. From my cross stitch days. I have alot of finished projects, all big ones, and they sit in a drawer waiting to be framed. Maybe if I approach my bed quilt block by block, and if I don't finish it then I can use the blocks for bags or something. A change of mind is whats needed.

Summer Breeze DYB - Bonnie's block complete

Bonnie's block is now done. The small piece of lace (or it could be very fine crochet) was one of the vintage bits sent to me from Pam Kellogg. I have used various threads on this block from perle to handdyed silks. The bottom seam, with the fans and the arches I saw on another blog (please claim it if it is yours) and loved it. It is very pretty, and came out great. The colours of the block are actually alot warmer than the pic shows, and the grey dot in the middle of the lace is a swarovski crystal and it adds lovely sparkle.

Summer Breeze DYB - Bonnie's block

Here is the progress on Bonnie's Do Your Block (where I embellish an entire 6" block). This block is testing me as I will be using only threads, and beading. You know me, I usually start with some big and flashy SRE motif on the block. Well Bonnie requested seam treatments, not that she wouldn't like SRE, but I decide to pick this block with a million seams and see what I can do.
Oh, I want my camera back. I will ring tomorrow and see what the story is.
