gifties

This is what several neighbours received from some little elves this evening. We have home made (fruit) mince pies. This is my first time making these AND I made my own mince, and they are lovely. The white ones are called "forgotten" cookies. They are meringue type things, with almonds, choc chips and craisins. Next time I would loose the almonds, but the craisins are great, perfect bit of tartness in all that sweet. Finally, "christmas puds". These are great, and super easy to do. Mellowpuffs, white choclate, a jaffa ( a New Zealand delicacy), and I used green cherries, but you are supposed to use some kind of green lolly, which I couldn't find.

My kids are going to thier sisters house tomorrow. I think they felt sorry for them as when they dropped in the other day, there was not a hint of xmas in the house. T rang up and said, "mums got heaps of decorations and thought the kids might like to come over and see them"....fine by me. We do have a tree now, and the neighbours are draining the power grid again this year, so I figure that is enough christnmas 'cheer' for me.

Hi, Jo - Merry Christmas to you and yours. The treats look terrific... but it's the "draining the power grid" remark that just has me cracking seriously up...

Jo, your goody's look yummy! And your sentiments regarding Christmas are similar to mine. With no remorse, I can honestly say that I'm glad it's almost over. And with only a week left in December, that means I only have to put up with this obnoxious, inconvenient Winter season for 2 more months. I'm already thinking thoughts of Spring!

Your sense of humor is so great. =) The hearts group was talking about making mince for pies. Did you send in your recipe?

The treats look great - make me wish I were a neighbor. =)
