Susans's black block
Here is another of the little 6"blocks I had to work for a RR . I decided I wanted to use the lace...and well, it all went down hill from there. There were some funky bits in this block. Luckily I have good friends who will be honest with me, and I actually really like the result. Phew!! I was at the point where I was going to abandon this block all together and just start another one for Susan.

Hi Jo
I love Susan's block. The colors are terrific and I like the way you have beaded the lace.
Great job and lucky Susan.

I love the block too - as you said, funky. Lovely lace. I also liked the way you created the butterflies - do they have a bullion knot as their body?
I love the block, you did a beautiful job!
Melusine , yes the bodies are bullions. The bullion body was my twist on someone elses beaded butterfly idea ...God bless the internet!!
I'm not sure where you thought you went wrong or what is 'funky'. The block is just gorgeous.
The lace, beads and sequin treatment is beautiful. And your bead butterflies are too cute as are your sequin flowers.
What's not to love about this block????
Beautiful work as usual! I know Susan is glad you didn't give up on it!!
This is so beautiful. I adore the sequin/bead flowers and the butterflies and the beaded lace is gorgeous (and I don't even like lace on this kind of work!). You're very close to tempting me to try cq myself.
Wow! The block is just gorgeous!!!
HUGZ:)

Jo, your stitching is to die for as always and I am absolutely in love with those darling little butterflies. I am making a little ATC for an 8yr old and I would love to use them, I will say where the design came from of course?

Hello Jo,
Your stitching is always wonderful. And I really love this encrusted look. Hugs Judy
You do such lovely work! I wonder how long it takes you to actually do one block? I'd be curious! So beautiful!
RoseAnne, it is hard to judge how long a block would take me. I generally work on them over the course of 3 or 4 evenings, so probably about 6 hours approx. Some take more, some less. but that would be average.
