HIdeko's Black DYB

Here is Hideko's DYB. DYBs are part of a set of 6, so while I do still attempt to make the block balanced, and complete in it's own right, I don't follow the usual "rules" of threes, and for example, if this was a stand-alone block, that red would be balanced on the block elsewhere. Hideko only wanted touches of red, so my hope is that the other blocks will be "touched" similarly by their stitchers.
You will notice a small change in the cretan stitched seam down the bottom. I was trying to use the gold thread to balance out the SRE motif...but it did not work. So instead of using colour for balance, I changed it to the buttons, and added
"weight" (visually).

Wonderful work Jo! Just gorgeous! What is the flowery bit up in the top right hand corner? Really cool! And how did you do the seam treatment just below it? Guess i'll have to study it some more! ggggg

This is a beautiful block. I like buttons better than the gold stitches, too. Love those roses!
