Healing heart
Everything around here is back to normal....kids are over the festivities and back to being loving and caring toward each other (yeah, right!!). We have had the usual tears over pressies that aren't doing what they are supposed too. Sugar overload, and tired little peeps that need to go to bed early, but fight it every step of the way.
,
Despite all this, I still prioritise, and find time to stitch. It is my stress reliever, my quiet time in the evening once finally getting everyone (including Rob) off to bed.
This is a healing heart for a friend on one of my groups who just lost a loved one. I won't say her name, but maybe you (and she) will figure it out by the type of heart it is...a landscape.
I am so freakin' pleased with the way this turned out. Not only is it exactly as I pictured it, it has turned out even better. I tried many colours for the background, and this neutral one seemed to work best. I thought maybe blue, but it takes away from the effect of the pool at the bottom.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I would greatly appreciate 101 recipes on how to use up a leg of ham...I am trying something at the moment with the leftovers from yesterday, if it is any good, I'll post a recipe.

Sorry Jo, I delete the first comment, I forgot to check it for spelling failures ,LOL. Now what I will say to you.
Jo I was speechless when I saw this heart. It is a miracle that
the landscape really "works' on such a little area.
The waterfall looks so real and your tree and flowers are awesome as always.
What a beautiful heart - I love the landscape crazy quilting.
It's gorgeous, Jo, I can see why you love it. I do too. And glad to know mine are not the only children who have gone back to being loving and caring to one another (predictable response from 10 year old when asked if she could possibly not insult her sister for the next 10 minutes: "i doubt it". Sigh.)
Jo, I think our common friend will be very touched by your beautiful heart, just like Ati said, it is amazing what you can do on such a little heart!
Hugs, WILMA
This is just beautiful, Jo! You've done an amazing job of bringing forth the landscape on such a small scale. Congrats! I'm sure the recipient will love it.
That heart is just beautiful Jo, & would make anyone feel better.
Happy 2008 for you & yours.
Joy & health!
Beautiful heart - don't know who it is for, seems like everyone is losing someone lately. =( This has to be a comfort, though.
Jo the heart is absolutely beautiful! It is definitely going to help her feel better.
HUGZ:)

Jo, what a beautiful heart. It certainly looks like it will give peace from that comforting place.
A couple of things we do with leftover ham: sandwiches we call sliced barbeque. It isn't the ham that gets the BBQ, it's the slaw topping: raw, grated cabbage, mayo (salad dressing), enough catsup to make it pinkish, and enough hot sauce to make it spicy (my folks like it fairly hot). These are either served on toasted white bread or hamburger-type buns along with french fries.
Another thing my son LOVES is ham and potato soup. Chop up some of the leftover ham (if most of the meat is gone, we stew the ham bone to cook off the remaining meat)and boil it to flavor the water. Peel and quarter potatoes and cook until done. This is served with corn bread.
I would think you could make any type casserole substituting the ham for tuna or chicken...
Hope this helps a little.
Jo, this heart is a masterpiece! it's like a picture.
Hello Jo, I am a bit slow catching up but I just want to say like the other 12 ladies have this is the most gorgeous healing CQ I have ever seen. Hugs Judy
