Black CQ

We have been away for the week, which I just love because the kids are so independent at the bach (cottage). They can have a bit of freedom, and I can have a bit of peace. They spent alot of time with my nanna, which was nice for all. My sister and nephew came to visit a couple of times, and the weather was lovely, although the power did go out the first night for a wee while. I like to read when at the bach, but I did get a bit of stitching done too. My Black CQ is the perfect project to take away, as I only needed my threads.
This is what I have achieved...
block #5
Block #6. I like this block. That centre fabric was a B.A.R.G.I.N. It is silk with the flower motif stitched on it. I had fun with this block. I am starting to be a little more adventurous with my stitches.
Block #7. Not 100% happy with this block. I have to do something with the mauve patch in the middle. This block has hand dyed vintage tatting added.
And finally the detail shots from these blocks. Click on the pics, they get bigger...
The yellow flower is bullion stitches. The purple 5 petalled flower are woven picots. The pink flowers again are bullion stitch. And the bunch of flowers are done with a double cast-on stitch.

These are sooooo gorgeous... I love some of the combinations you have come up with. What do you use for a template for your cool fan-shaped stitches? They really have a huge impact!

The blocks are gorgeous. Maybe you could use a black thread or motif in the mauve center.

I love these blocks! Your stitching is exquisite, as always, and it shows up so nicely against the dark fabrics.
