Not everyones idea of a great date....

...but this is where I am going tonight, for my birthday outing. I have been to haunted house before, it was freakin' marvellous!! and REALLY REALLY scary! Everything is so well done, the actors never break role, the special effects are realistic, and grown men do cry!
Tonight we are doing the corn field, the forest, and the vortex. I loved those Children of the Corn movies. I am a horror/gore fanatic, the gorey the better, but it is quite different being in the middle of it, and even though you know you are not going to actually get hurt, I was surprised at how scared I was last time, and surprised by how brave Rob was!

...later that night.... what a great night. We did another indoor haunted house, where you have to wear 3-D glasses and the walls are painted in floru/glow in the dark paint. People come out at you from walls and wardrobes etc. (What I didn't tell you before that everything here is set up in the building of a defunct mental institution. I had an uncle who lived most of his life there)
We also did the forest of fear. This was not so frightening, for two reasons. a) I felt it was more open and you could run if you wanted too, where as in the house, you HAVE to go thru it to get out. The second reason for the forest not being as good was the STUPID girl in front of us. The actors have to break out of character if you ask them to - in a hysterical screaming kind of way - well this girl did this at EVERY SINGLE SCARE, and although they leave gaps between groups, she would argue with them and when we got there the spookers were still out of character trying to sort her out. There was still some great bits though.
The final one we did was the CornEvil, a maize maze. Fan-f*****g-tastic!! Again it was a bit like the house, even though you were outside, the corn is so tall and the paths narrow, it felt quite claustrophobic, and the spookers are in such great makeup. The suckers (thats us, the paying public, lol) have torches, it is not lit at all, but all the spookers wander around in the dark, jumping out from corn. One girl behind us just bolted and ran off into the corn with Rob, me and her mates just ROCPOL (rolling around the corn pissing ourselves laughing ). She had no torch or anything, she just ran. The reason for the running, the spooker with the chainsaw...the REAL chainsaw .
Most of the actors that work here are just local highschool kids, and they are really good. A really fun night in a 'oh I just crapped my pants' kinda way. I can thoroughly recommend it.

OMG, this looks soooo cool! I've never seen anything like this before, apart from the tame house of horrors thingies you find at fairs. How long do you spend in the house - is it a set mission that once you've completed then that's it, or can you keep going back for more?

Ohhh I'm glad it's you and not me. That's my worst nightmare....grin. Have a wonderful birthday - sorry if this is a bit late, but the birthday wishes are the same.

Hugs

Dy, each thing takes about 1/2 hr to 45 minutes. You just go thru the once. the corn you could turn around and go back in I guess. They change the actors who are in there, and where they are every night, so if you back, you never get what you expect.

Thanks for the b'day wishes Catherine.

Sounds like fun! I love that sort of thing as well, and my husband is not terribly fond of being scared. I think it's hilarious. He's 6'4", 230 pounds and he hides behind me, propelling me forward like I'm some kind of shield!! I tease him the whole way through.

Yet, my guy can watch a war movie without even flinching. I about crawl out of my skin while watching those.

Glad you had a great birthday. :) I also hope that this comment didn't just post 14 times. It seems blogger may be having some issues with that....

You can have all my tickets to things like that. I'm a total chicken and *hate* being scared! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, though. Too bad the chicken in front of you in the forest didn't stay home.

I'm glad you had a such a wonderful time. I just don't do the 'spook' thing anymore.

The original Texas Chain Saw Massacre freaked me out. Then a Spook Alley re-enactment few years ago pushed me over the edge. I ran out crying and that was that!

What if one of them was a real murderer who just snuck in. My son loves this idea. How much was it. It sounds so cool. Wish they had something like this here. Annetteb
