Beaded Ribbons and ETSY

I had a lovely comment from an old friend Zandra asking me to post more. Zandra honey, I am back from holiday, but the mojo isn't. I just can't settle on anything to stitch. There is no inspiration, and little motivation. The Blue CQ is calling, but so quietly I can easily drown it out with othert thoughts. The Green CQ is looking at me and screaming, but I have small children, I can drown that out too.....sigh, hopefully it will come back soon.

I did, however, complete another RR block.

This is Megs Asian Nights blocks. Her theme was Islamic. Hard or what?? The colours are just stunning in this block (the photo sux). I couldn't put my finger on a style, so I went with colour. I added the blue tatting to mimic the geometric shapes found in tiles and ironwork. I did the little flower motif above that (which was a copy of what Lyn did in the lower right). I added the sequin flowers which bring the dark gold over to that side of the block, and finally just added beads to already stitched seams.

One thing that has inspired me lately is "beaded ribbons". Now to be clear, these are not ribbons that are beaded, but ribbons made of beads. Cobi did the one on the block above, here is a closeup...
Seeing as I has her example in my hand, I made one for myself to refer to later, and my philosophy is "learn by doing", so I did!
This is on a postcard that i pieced ages ago, so just a small one. I was really nice to get lost in my stitching for a couple of hours last night, without thinking about it. I see more of these in my future. You can see some other beaded ribbons on Gerrys blog.

And finally, I have opened an ETSY shop. Not much in it, but I have to start somewhere. I may list a few postcards, and I have a wee book I put together online that should be in there by the end of the week. I just need to wait for it to arrive from the printer. It won't be expensive, probably only about $15 US. That's a bit exciting.

So Zandra, thats it! As soon as said 'mojo' returns and I start stitching again properly, I will post again properly
ps Mary and Dakotah...I haven't even made it to the PO yet...sorry :(
and everyone else, I know I haven't done the Feb Giveaway, I thought I would wait until the books got here....

Hi Jo...Love those beaded ribbons!
Awesome...glad you shared them!

I know that feeling you're talking about... when that Mojo just ain't there! Thinking about all the things you have on the go but nothing that seems to compel you...and then something different distracts or involves you! But that I have found is a necessary hiatus...gives your creative mind time to contemplate...simmering until the ideas come...for the other works...and they will!

You couldn't tell your mojo went a missing. I wish I could show work like that with my missing mojo. :)

Hi Jo,
Well, it's a relief to know you haven't sent the postcard yet...I was beginning to worry, given the distance. When you have time...not a problem.
I've found when I have mojo problems lately I spend time doing housekeeping in my craft room and that really helps me a lot. Of course, the room is much too small to let it get out of hand. And, my lack-of-mojo cases haven't been too big lately, thankfully. I feel for ya!
Congrats on the Etsy shop. I'll have to check it out!

Oh, I forgot to ask how those bead ribbons are made...are they stitched directly onto the fabric as you move along?
Thanks!
