BLACK CQ - the countdown begins!!
I have exactly 28 days to get this quilt done!! I don't know what to say apart form that, except that thanks god it doesn't need quilting!! I am going to (intend to) use the"invisible"tie method of holding it all together. Valerie Bothell showed this on her blog a while ago (sidebar). Ingenious.
The pictures are not all great, sorry. Below is block #19 completed.Block #20 almost completed.
... and, taa-daa, all the blocks together. This pic is taken from the foot of the bed. I couldn't get all the blocks in. I have played with the layout a little. I think there are too many big chunks of lightness on the left side.
Here is the quilt in it's entirety. I wish I hadn't put the blocks of colour in it now, but hey, it's done, and it's not changing!!
I still have no clue what I will do once the blocks are pieced. I had though some stitching in the black diamonds where the corners meet. Now I am thinking maybe a uniform stitch along all the seam lines, probably feather stitch. I would use the sassa lynne threads, but in no particular order, though probably stick with lighter shades. Once everything is pieced together I will show you again
edited to add: I have a month to finish the quilt before the hand in date for the Auckland Patchwork and Quilters Guild annual show. My nana made a comment last year about us all exhibiting together, so That was my goal for this year, to have a quilt to show.

I just scrolled through to see all of your blocks. Your handwork is exquisite and imaginative! Very pretty, Jo.
Oh. My. How absolutely stunning!! I'm totally in awe. BTW...would you mind explaining why you have a deadline? I do hope it's because you're entering it in a show and/or contest?
This is just DEELISH, Jo! ARE you entering it in a competition?
Stunning Quilt, Jo! I haven't cq on black and I might have to try it.
