Giveaway winner and stuff!
Giveaway winner for May is....
KARRIN HURD
congrats Karrin. PM me your addy, and I'll get it out to you soon.
Below are some blocks for a charity quilt, for Breast cancer. The blocks are to be Cream on Cream, and they are constructed from (donated) wedding dress fabric.
Here are my blocks. Can you notice the difference in the piecing? The one on the right, I made first, and used a fabric foundation fabric. I thought I might want to insert laces etc during embellishment.
The one on the left I pieced in my usual fashion, onto a fusable interfacing. I like it sooooo much better. It is flat, it looks nicer. It is stable and will not lose to much size during embellishment, and lets face it, I don't usually add lace etc (under seams) during embellishment.

I like your leaves a lot! Their shapes are beautiful and the little black outlines make a nice contrast on that creamy colored block.
Your dyed colors are sublime....
.... what no spew...how about permament marker, paints...Your children obviously have more self control/better behaved that ours
Honest to goodness Paula, a bit of playdough, but that's it!! And no they are not well behaved, but after having a cup of milo *accidently* spilt into my box of perle cottons, there is nothing but water allowed in the lounge...
Your blocks are lovely. May I ask how you do the blocks with interfacing?
Thanks Kathy. I use the interfacing as the foundation fabric. Fuseable side up. After each piece is placed I iron it down. Takes a bit more thinking as you have to be really sure on the shape of your piece as it needs to be trimmed before you fuse, but I often draw a rough guide of the block onto the interfacing first.
I usually use a lighter interfacing for blocks, and a heavier grade for postcards etc to give them more stability.
Some people don't like stitching through it, but I haven't found it any different to other blocks I work on.
Your leaves are lovely Jo, and really like the blocks too. I will have to try that fusible interfacing method. Thanks so much for picking my name!
Do I like? I LOVE! I also LOVE the green and yellow tones.
On the few CQ projects I've done to date (2 - will have to rectify that!) I used fusible interfacing. It was a great method and I'm glad I'm in with the experts!
Also, I love the new(?) banner. My crappy dial up connection only downloads blog banners half the time so I've only just noticed it now. Very stylish.
